What is a Stingaree?
The Stingaree was the name of San Diego's downtown area in the late 19th Century. Home to hundreds of brothels, bars and opium dens, the Stingaree is our baudy inspiration. Stingaree is also the name of a nightclub that opened in San Diego in 2004.

Recording
Stingaree Recording and Design brings years of professional experience to your session. Hip hop, punk, pop, bluegrass, comedy, infomercials, you name it. While no one knows your work better than yourself, Stingaree has the ears and the honesty to give you useful feedback. Artists can record 24 bit digital or 8-track analog.

Preparation
Nothing worthwhile is easy. Each performer should rehearse their part without accompaniment. Drummers and solo artists should get a metronome to keep their speed constant. Learn to practice with headphones on. The day before you get into the studio, immerse yourself in your music. Limit exposure to any other kinds of music in this period.

An underlying concept in your song leaves a road map when the going gets tough. A good song answers the questions who, what where, why, when and how. It should paint a picture for the listener. Have a simple answer when people ask what kind of music you play and what you are about. Keep a mailing list!

Do your homework. Organize your time before you get to the studio. Vocalists should write out all the lyrics to all the songs. The more time spent preparing before the studio the happier the artist.
